One, Holy, Catholic, Apostolic: Unity & Diversity in the Church

One, Holy, Catholic, Apostolic: Unity & Diversity in the Church

$5.00

Jesus of Nazareth was a Jewish man from Galilee, proclaimed to be Messiah for the Jews, in fulfillment of the Jewish scriptures. His earthly ministry was directed mostly to other Jews, and all of his first disciples were Jews. Yet after his death and resurrection, the early Christian movement quickly spread beyond the Jewish people to include peoples of many other languages, nations, and ethnicities. The inclusion of these “Gentiles” caused serious tensions within the early Church, but the apostles consistently emphasized the need to maintain the unity of the Church.  This talk will explore how the Gospel of Luke and the Acts of the Apostles can continue to inspire us—and to challenge us—to strive for “Unity within Diversity” in our Church and in our world today.
